Summer Refresher Series
Helping children retain the knowledge they learned last year
Although summer is the time for vacations and a rest from school work, you don’t want your child to give up any of that hard-earned knowledge they acquired this past school year. Any teacher will tell you that their students often need weeks to get back up to speed after a long summer. Research at the John Hopkins University Center for Summer Learning showed that “on average, students lose approximately 2.6 months of grade-level equivalency in mathematical computation skills over the summer months.” Children with AD/HD or any sort of learning disability often fall back even further.
With that in mind, In-Home Tutors of Atlanta is pleased to offer our new Summer Refresher series: 8 hour one-on-one tutoring programs, tailored to fit students at every grade level, prepared by tutors who understand what skills your child needs to carry forward into the next grade. Summer Refresher courses will be held in your home, at your convenience, at a special summer price (May 29-August 8, 2009 only).
The total cost of each 8 hour course is $375 and includes an age- and grade-appropriate workbook and notebook. Reading Rocks

Art Camp – we have two art teachers available to teach drawing, painting or sculpture in your home. This is not simple arts and crafts to keep your child occupied during the summer; these classes will develop your child’s artistic techniques and appreciation for fine art. Reduce your costs by gathering a couple of similar-age neighborhood children for a group art class.
Debate Workshop. A former national mock trial finalist, Rob Bexley, will run debate workshops for between three and eight middle schoolers. Help your child develop lifelong skills of public speaking and logic. Call 770-645-8750 for details.
Private Dance Classes. Ms Julie, a master dance instructor for Roswell Parks and Rec, can teach your child (and you too) the elements of ballet or tap in your home. Cost: $50/hr. Reduce your costs by gathering a couple of similar-age neighborhood children for group instruction
